Google Play vs App Store:

We just received a report of app revenue related to two largest app stores, Google Play by Android and App Store by Apple.

Apple’s revenue reached $5.4 billion in Q4 of 2016. It’s 60% increase year on year. As market share of Google is more than Apple, we could see that Google's Play Store is enjoying an even more growth which is 82% compared to the same period of 2015 but is still trailing the App Store in absolute figures. It is $3.3 billion total which is less than what Apple's store generated the year before.

If we talk about the total platforms combined, the numbers are $8.7 billion which is 67% increase. 19.2 billion app installs were estimated to have taken place in Q4 2016 and that's a more modest 17% increase compared to the same period of 2015.
