Honor 7X facial recognition soon available via an update

Honor 7X to get Face unlocking feature through an update:

At the CES 2018, Honor announced that their latest smartphone "Honor 7X" that was launched in December 2017 will receive an update in the first quarter of 2018 to get a facial recognition feature.

In the framework of CES 2018, the young Chinese brand announced that their "flagship model" would receive an update allowing it to benefit from a system of unlocking by facial recognition. The exact date of deployment is not yet revealed, but this update is already scheduled for the first quarter of 2018.

When presenting the Honor V10, the brand had introduced a facial recognition system using the same principle as Apple's Face ID, and even its Animojis. Unfortunately, this technology requires a hardware module consisting of a standard RGB camera, an infrared camera and a VCSEL laser projector. However, the Honor 7X is not equipped with such sensors.

We should therefore expect an equivalent of the OnePlus 5T Face Unlock, based only on the front camera and an algorithm.

Whether you like this method to unlock your smartphone, it is good to see that manufacturers are not reluctant to bring new features to their already commercialized devices when they can. It remains to be seen now whether the other devices of the brand will also enjoy or not. We are waiting for a response from the brand on this subject.

Honor also announced that a new limited edition Honor 7X Red will be launched on Valentine's Day.
