Google makes it easier to switch from iOS to Android
Google makes it easier to switch from iOS to Android with Google Drive:
After the release of Google Pixel and Pixel XL, Google is actively working on apps for iOS so that it could back up the contents to Gmail account (Android). Few major apps are Google Photos, Google Contacts and Google Drive etc. Apple made Move to iOS back in 2013 while releasing iPhone 5S/5C.
This method is basically a cloud based method. This method isn’t that easy to switch contents. If you remember Google Pixel XL comes with USB Type C OTG adapter so that users can connect any device to their Pixel phone to copy all the date from older to newer device.
Google Drive is now updated and become migration tool that can be installed on iOS devices as part of Google Drive app.
Procedure to move contents from iOS to Android:
- Go to Google Drive
- Find Back Tool
- Select what you like to backup from your iOS device
- Tap Start Backup
While setting up new device you need to sign into your Gmail account which will be used to perform backup. After completion, your contacts will be found in the Contacts app, Photos will be in Google Photos App. Same goes with the Google Calendar as well.
At this moment this method does not support to get your text messages from iOS to Android device. For this you need to use OTG adapter and plug your iPhone directly into the Android phone.
