Bluetooth 5.0:

Apple says that wireless is future during the launch of iPhone 7/7Plus when they introduced their wireless headphones for the new iPhone. It seems true as the SIG (Special Interest Group) has announced that the next release of Bluetooth devices coming in 2017 will be called Bluetooth 5.


This new technology of Bluetooth has significant speed, range and ability to broadcast messages. The capability of sending fast data transfer with optimized response is something people were looking for.

Key features of Bluetooth 5:

==> Up to 2x bandwidth of Bluetooth 4.2 with low energy
==> Up to 4x range of Bluetooth 4.2 with low energy.
==> Up to 8x the broadcasting message capacity over Bluetooth 4.2, with support for larger data packets: 31-octet to 255-octet packages.
==> Detect and prevent interference at the edges of the 2.4 GHz ISM band and the neighboring LTE band.
Just like WiFi speeds, Bluetooth are also getting enhancements. This is mainly because this technology could be used where internet connection (Wifi) isn't available.
