Android P: Operators could hide the power of their network signals

In current Android versions, you have the option to access network signal strength in Settings. A new piece of code spotted by XDA Dev gives us a strange indication for the next major update of Android. Android P could allow operators to hide the signal strength of their network, but not totally.

Reports say that this feature was requested by different carriers and Google agreed to their demand. The motivation behind this change remains quite mysterious. It gives the impression that Google wants to allow operators to hide the real quality of their network.

It is extremely difficult to select an operator, as information about the quality of their network remains unclear.
However users can still measure their phone signal strength by using different applications and general developers will still be able to access the actual intensity.
