True Tone displays in iPhone 8, 7s, and 7s Plus just like iPad Pro 9.7:
A new rumor surrounding over the internet regarding Apple's iPhone 2017 lineup. The rumors are confirming about the devices' ambient light sensors. These sensors will be in the expensive version (atleast) of the iPhone ( possibly iPhone 8). This phone is also going to have an AMOLED panel.
At this time only iPad Pro 9.7 have the True Tone display capability. True Tone is basically the color intensity of the panel. It automatically adjust the screen based on the surrounding environment using the sensors in it. For example, the display will be warmer when you're using the device under low lighting, but cooler and bluer if you're outside on a cloudy day.
This feature will be in all upcoming iPhones by using a full spectral sensing ambient light sensor. These sensors are provided by an Austrian company AMS Semiconductor. The use of such advanced ambient light sensors means Apple will have to pay around $1 per piece but there are other sensors available in the market which costs $0.60.
